Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko has strongly denied allegations of a romantic affair with Matthew Ekeinde, the husband of veteran actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde. Responding to the viral rumors during an Instagram Live session, Etiko described the claims as false and baseless, asserting that they are part of a smear campaign aimed at tarnishing her reputation.
The rumors had gained traction online, with some reports suggesting that Matthew Ekeinde had gifted Etiko a luxury car. However, the actress dismissed these claims, emphasizing her independence and hard work as the source of her success.
“People will always try to drag you down when they see you prospering,” Etiko said during the live session. “I have worked for 99.9% of what I have, and I don’t rely on anyone for my achievements. The rumors about me and Mr. Ekeinde are completely untrue.”
Etiko further clarified that the only interaction she had with Omotola’s husband occurred several years ago during a flight where Ekeinde, who is a pilot, was at the helm. She recounted taking a photo with him out of respect, as he was her senior colleague’s spouse. “That was the first and only time I met him. The picture was taken with respect, nothing more,” she added.
The actress also addressed the tendency of some people to fabricate stories to damage others’ reputations. She urged her fans to disregard the false information and focus on her work and achievements.
