Wojciech Szczesny, the former Arsenal and Juventus goalkeeper, has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 34. The Polish international, who was recently released from his contract with Juventus at the end of last season, shared the news in an emotional statement on his Instagram account on Tuesday.

Szczesny, who most recently represented Poland at the 2024 European Championship in Germany, reflected on his 18-year career with gratitude and pride. “I left Warsaw, my hometown, in June 2006 to join Arsenal with one dream – to make a living out of football,” he wrote. “I didn’t just realize my dreams; I’ve arrived where my imagination wouldn’t even dare to take me.”
