The Chairman of the Imo State Council of Elders, HRM Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, has lauded the Supreme Court’s decision upholding Governor Hope Uzodimma as the rightful winner of the November 11, 2023, gubernatorial election. Describing the ruling as a victory for all Imolites and the South East geopolitical zone, Eze Ilomuanya emphasized that Uzodimma’s leadership has positively impacted the region.

Eze Ilomuanya, who also serves as Co-Chairman of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council and Chancellor of Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, highlighted the governor’s significant achievements, particularly his role as Chairman of the South East Governors Forum. He called on all stakeholders to support Uzodimma in consolidating these successes without the distractions of ongoing litigation.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Kennedy Eweama, Eze Ilomuanya urged the governor to be magnanimous in victory, encouraging him to consider the perspectives and contributions of his challengers. He also appealed to those who lost in the election to accept the outcome as the will of God and work together for the betterment of Imo State.

Eze Ilomuanya stressed the need for unity, urging all parties to rally behind the governor for the common good of the people. He expressed hope that the Supreme Court’s judgment would bring an end to all hostilities and pave the way for progress in the state.
