The Imo State Government has vehemently denied circulating posters that falsely suggest Governor Hope Uzodinma is eyeing the Vice Presidency alongside All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for the 2027 elections. The state administration condemned these claims as baseless and malicious attempts to disrupt the governor’s relationship with President Bola Tinubu.

Declan Emelumba, the State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation, and Strategy, issued a statement dismissing the posters as the work of mischief-makers seeking to sow discord. Emelumba emphasized that Uzodinma has never entertained ambitions for the Vice Presidency and remains fully committed to his duties and supporting President Tinubu.

“Governor Uzodinma has been a steadfast ally of President Tinubu, working tirelessly to support his administration,” Emelumba stated. “The notion that he is plotting a Vice Presidential run is absurd and unfounded.”

The Commissioner accused opposition forces of spreading false information to undermine the current administration, especially after recent attempts to disrupt the government through violent protests failed. He urged those responsible for the misinformation to cease their activities, which he claimed are aimed at destabilizing the relationship between the federal and state governments.

“For clarity, Governor Uzodinma has no intention of running for Vice President, now or in 2027,” Emelumba asserted. “Such rumors are purely fabrications and should be disregarded.”
