American actor and WWE superstar John Cena has opened up about his biggest fear, revealing that he’s not ready—and may never be ready—to take on the responsibility of being a parent. The 47-year-old, who has been married twice but has no children, shared his concerns during a recent interview on the podcast “Club Shay Shay.”

Cena candidly admitted, “My biggest fear is I don’t think I’m personally ready, nor will I ever be, to invest the time it takes to be a great parent. Because I still have a lot to do and I still want to do a lot.” Despite having a fulfilling life and a strong relationship with his wife, Shay Shariatzadeh, Cena expressed that the commitment required to be a parent is something he’s not prepared for.

The wrestler-turned-actor acknowledged the sensitive nature of the topic, stating, “It’s a tough subject to talk about because it immediately puts you in a category. People tend to judge. But I operate under the construct that everyone is okay living their lives. I’m very happy with where I stand. I’ve a lot of joy and fulfillment in my life.”

Cena’s first marriage to Elizabeth Huberdeau in 2009 ended in divorce three years later. He later married Shay Shariatzadeh in a private ceremony in 2020. Both marriages have been childless, a choice that Cena appears to be at peace with, despite societal expectations.

As one of the most recognizable figures in both wrestling and Hollywood, Cena’s candid reflections on parenthood have sparked conversations about the pressures and expectations placed on public figures regarding family life.
