A tragic incident unfolded in Abubor Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, where a mother and her four children died under suspicious circumstances believed to be food poisoning.

The victims—Onyinye, the mother, and her children Miracle, Dominion, Amanda, and Kosi—reportedly succumbed after consuming their dinner on Monday night. The exact cause of the poisoning remains under investigation.

The father and husband, who was away at the time, was devastated upon discovering his family’s lifeless bodies and was promptly taken to the hospital due to shock.

Two other children, a boy and a girl, survived the tragedy as they were not residing with the family in Nnewi.

Anambra State Police spokesman SP Tochukwu Ikenga has confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is underway. The bodies of the deceased have been transferred to the morgue for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

“It is a case of sudden and unnatural death reported to the command,” Ikenga added.
