The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Imo State has welcomed a new Sector Commander, Mr. Anthony Uga, who officially assumed office on August 8, 2024. Mr. Uga takes over from his predecessor, Mr. Evaristus Ebeniro, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to road safety in the state.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Chibunna Nwamgborogwu, Uga’s appointment is a perfect fit for the role, describing him as a “square peg in a square hole.” Uga holds a doctorate in History and International Relations from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and has previously served as the Corps Commander in charge of transport under the Corps’ Department of Technical Services. His last posting was in Ogun State, where he served from July 2023 to July 2024.

Speaking to newsmen, Uga expressed his dedication to his new role, pledging to address traffic infractions and enhance road safety across Imo State. He emphasized that under his leadership, the FRSC will collaborate closely with other security agencies to bolster intelligence gathering efforts aimed at combating insecurity.

He highlighted the Command’s ongoing public awareness campaigns, particularly through regular radio engagements every Tuesday morning, where they educate residents on the importance of following traffic rules.

“This initiative has been yielding positive results, and we are committed to strengthening our collaboration with all stakeholders to achieve even greater milestones,” Uga said.

The new Commander is optimistic that with the continued cooperation of the people of Imo State, the FRSC will reach new heights in ensuring road safety and security.
