Tragedy struck in Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, as a commercial motorcycle rider, popularly known as an Okada, lost his life after a truck rammed into a mini-bus driving against traffic. The collision left three others seriously injured and resulted in a near-lynching of the truck driver by an angry mob.

The incident, confirmed by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe, has caused significant tension in the area. According to reports, the trouble began when a mini-bus driving against traffic was stopped by police officers on duty. As the bus came to a halt, an oncoming truck lost control and crashed into the vehicle, which then collided with the Okada and its passengers.

The Okada rider died instantly, leading to an enraged mob setting the mini-bus ablaze. The driver of the mini-bus managed to escape, while the truck driver was arrested by the police. The injured passengers were quickly rushed to Oleh Central Hospital and Maranatha Clinic for treatment.

Contrary to earlier reports, Mr. Edafe clarified that it was the Sienna SUV, not a police van, that was burnt by the mob. He explained, “The Sienna was driving against traffic when it was stopped by the police. Unfortunately, a tipper truck lost control and rammed into the Sienna, causing the fatal accident.”

Eyewitnesses confirmed that while the Okada rider died on the spot, the three injured passengers are currently receiving medical care. The incident has sparked outrage in the community, with many calling for stricter enforcement of traffic laws to prevent such tragedies.
