In Port Harcourt on Saturday, protesters blocked Governor Siminilaye Fubara’s convoy, demanding that he address their grievances. The demonstration is part of ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests in the Niger Delta Region, which began on August 1, 2024.
As Governor Fubara’s motorcade attempted to pass, the protesters, waving green branches and chanting slogans, lined the streets and refused to move until their demands were acknowledged. Despite the blockade, the governor’s convoy managed to continue on its route.
The rally at Pleasure Park in Port Harcourt marks the third consecutive day of protests against poor governance and hunger in the region. Protesters have been actively holding signs and rallying with a clear message: they want an end to corruption and ineffective leadership.
Similar protests are also taking place in Ojota, Lagos, and Abuja, as well as other states across the country, demonstrating widespread frustration with the current political climate and a unified call for change.
