Russia has issued a stark warning to the United States, cautioning that allowing Ukraine to carry out missile strikes deep into Russian territory could trigger a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict. President Vladimir Putin made it clear that any such attacks would be met with a strong and appropriate response from Moscow.
The warning comes as Ukraine continues to press Western allies for permission to use long-range weapons against targets inside Russia. This move, if approved, could potentially widen the conflict beyond Europe’s borders, with serious global repercussions.
In a statement, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov criticized the West, accusing them of recklessly escalating the war in Ukraine. “The American mentality is that of a master, convinced of their safety while expecting others, not just Ukrainians but also Europeans, to fight on their behalf,” Lavrov said, as reported by RT.
Lavrov further described the West’s actions as “playing with fire,” likening their approach to children irresponsibly handling matches. He emphasized the dangers of such behavior, especially when nuclear weapons are involved. “This is a very dangerous thing for grown-up uncles and aunts who are entrusted with nuclear weapons in one or another Western country,” he added.
Russia reiterated its call for restraint and urged all parties to focus on diplomatic solutions to avoid further escalation. The Kremlin stressed the importance of seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict, warning that failure to do so could lead to severe consequences on a global scale.
