President Bola Ahmed Tinubu issued a firm warning on Sunday, declaring that his administration will not allow a small group with political motives to destabilize Nigeria. In his nationwide address, Tinubu emphasized his commitment to maintaining public order and urged for an end to the protests that have swept through various states.
Speaking with a heavy heart, Tinubu acknowledged the significant unrest and violence resulting from the protests, which have caused numerous casualties and extensive damage to public property. He condemned the destruction and looting, which he said undermines the nation’s progress and wastes valuable resources needed for recovery.
“The ongoing violence and destruction are unacceptable,” Tinubu stated. “My administration will not stand by while a few individuals with political agendas seek to tear this country apart. We must return to dialogue and work together, regardless of our differences, to reshape Nigeria’s future.”
The President expressed deep sympathy for the victims of the protests and called for an immediate cessation of violence. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing the concerns of Nigerians through dialogue and responsible governance.
Tinubu underscored his dedication to ensuring that democracy thrives by protecting the constitutional rights of all citizens and supporting law enforcement agencies in their duty to safeguard lives and property.
Reflecting on his administration’s economic policies, Tinubu defended his decision to remove fuel subsidies and reform the foreign exchange system. He explained that these measures were essential to tackle long-standing economic issues and curb the exploitation by smugglers and rent-seekers.
“We reached a point where temporary solutions were no longer viable,” Tinubu said. “The steps we’ve taken are necessary to correct decades of economic mismanagement and ensure sustainable growth.”
The President assured Nigerians, particularly the youth, that his government is dedicated to addressing their concerns and delivering tangible results. He promised that the benefits of recent reforms would soon become evident and improve daily life across the country.
“My administration is committed to expanding infrastructure and creating new opportunities for our youth,” Tinubu added. “We are in a new era of Renewed Hope. Despite past disappointments, we are working diligently to bring about visible and meaningful change.”
In closing, Tinubu reiterated his call for unity and collaboration to overcome the challenges facing the nation and build a prosperous future for all Nigerians. He emphasized that despite the hurdles, his administration remains focused on delivering on its promises and improving the lives of its citizens.
