Williams Uchemba, a prominent Nigerian actor, recently sparked a debate by criticizing women who make financial demands on men that they themselves cannot meet. Uchemba shared his thoughts through a candid post on his Facebook page, attributing unrealistic expectations as a contributing factor to why many women remain single.
The actor expressed concern over what he described as an entitlement mentality pervasive among some women today. He pointed out, “There’s a troubling trend where too many women believe it’s normal to ask for extravagant items like G wagons or the latest iPhone model—luxuries they couldn’t afford on their own.”
Uchemba emphasized the importance of modesty and character over materialism. He advised women to adopt a more appealing approach rather than making outright demands, suggesting that genuine affection from a partner involves thoughtful spending, not coerced gifts.
He further warned that such behaviors, which he referred to as reflecting a “Jezebelian spirit,” might lead to a life of solitude: “It’s about your character, not just your physical attributes. What truly sustains a relationship goes beyond superficialities.”
This outspoken stance by Uchemba has ignited conversations around expectations in dating and the dynamics of financial dependency in relationships, highlighting a shift in societal norms and personal accountability.
