Afrobeats superstar and Grammy award-winning artist Wizkid has revealed that his career path could have been very different if music hadn’t worked out. The Nigerian singer shared that football was his first passion, and he would have pursued it professionally if not for his successful music career.

Wizkid, who was once a member of his school’s football team, disclosed that he played the sport “real good” and had a deep love for it. However, his impatience and dislike for the early morning training sessions ultimately led him to focus on music, a decision that has since made him one of Africa’s biggest musical exports.

Despite choosing music over football, Wizkid expressed his continued respect for the discipline and commitment required to succeed in the sport.

In the same conversation, Wizkid also discussed his unconventional approach to security, noting that he prefers not to travel with bodyguards. Instead, he relies on his close-knit management team, whom he considers family, to keep him safe.
