The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a sweeping victory in the Imo State local government elections, winning all 305 councilorship seats and 27 chairmanship positions. The results were announced on Sunday by the Chairman of the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC), Charles Ejiogu.

Ejiogu emphasized that the election adhered to all necessary guidelines and was conducted fairly across the state’s 305 wards and 27 local government areas. “The election was peaceful, fair, transparent, and credible,” Ejiogu stated, noting that 17 political parties participated in the election, which took place at 4,758 polling units.

However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) criticized the process, with the party’s Publicity Secretary, Lancelot Obiaku, describing the election as a “charade” and “undemocratic.” Obiaku claimed that ISIEC failed to publish a list of candidates or voter registers at polling units, among other concerns.
