Suspected Boko Haram insurgents unleashed terror on Mafa village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State, looting and setting ablaze numerous homes and shops. The attack, which occurred around 4 p.m. on Sunday, left the community in chaos, with several lives feared lost.

According to DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, spokesperson for the Yobe State Police Command, the incident was reported by local residents Babagana Goni and Bako Ibrahim. “The attackers, armed with rifles and RPGs, descended on Mafa ward, riding on more than 50 motorcycles. They set fire to many shops and houses, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake,” Abdulkarim stated.

While the exact number of casualties remains unclear, Abdulkarim confirmed that there were multiple fatalities. “The terrorists also dropped fliers with Arabic inscriptions, further spreading fear among the villagers,” he added.

The Yobe Police Command is currently working to gather more information and assess the full extent of the damage caused by the attack. As the investigation continues, the community remains on high alert, fearing further attacks from the insurgents.
