Nigerian entertainer and activist Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has shed light on the unique qualities of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) produced by the Dangote Refinery, noting that the fuel is “pure white” due to its refinement from ethanol.
Charly Boy explained that ethanol-based fuel offers superior engine efficiency and reduces air pollution, thanks to its oxygen content, which minimizes carbonation and lowers carbon dioxide emissions. He stated that this is why the fuel produced by the refinery stands out as high quality.
In a post titled “Why Dangote fuel is white,” Charly Boy elaborated: “Different petrol colors indicate various fuel properties. For instance, red fuel suggests Octane was added, green shows a higher Octane presence, while yellow signifies unleaded fuel. However, when fuel is clear like water, it means ethanol was used, making it the best for engine performance and environmental sustainability.”
The founder of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, had earlier announced that the refinery is now ready to commence full fuel production, and displayed a sample of the refined fuel. The pricing will be determined by President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council.
