Edo State Governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo, has called on candidates from other political parties to put aside differences and join him in the mission to build “a New Edo of our dreams.” This appeal comes after his victory in the Edo State governorship election, where he emerged as the winner with 291,667 votes, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on September 24, 2024.

In his first message to the people of Edo after receiving his Certificate of Return from INEC, Okpebholo emphasized his commitment to transforming the state and urged all political opponents to come together in the interest of progress. He and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, are ready to begin working immediately to fulfill their campaign promises and ensure development and equal opportunities for all citizens.

“I extend a hand of fellowship to my fellow candidates. Together, we can achieve the New Edo State that we all envision,” Okpebholo said, thanking the people of Edo for their trust and reaffirming that the ultimate winners of the election are the citizens of the state.

The Governor-elect also expressed deep gratitude to his supporters, the APC leadership, President Bola Tinubu, and key political figures, including former Edo governor Adams Oshiomhole and APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, for their unwavering support throughout the campaign. He paid special tribute to the traditional rulers, particularly the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty Oba Ewuare II, for their guidance and wisdom during the election period.

As Okpebholo prepares to assume office, he remains focused on uniting Edo and delivering on the promises made during the campaign to foster growth and development across the state.
