The Federal Government has approved a substantial increase in the monthly allowance of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to ₦77,000, effective from July 2024. This marks a significant boost from the previous ₦33,000 allowance, following the enactment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024.

According to a statement from NYSC spokesperson Caroline Embu on Wednesday, the new allowance was confirmed in a letter from the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, signed by its Chairman, Ekpo Nta, dated September 25, 2024. The increase aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s recent signing of the new minimum wage bill into law.
