Former Chelsea defender, Glen Johnson, has expressed his disappointment over Chelsea’s inability to secure the signing of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen during the summer transfer window. Despite being linked with the 25-year-old for months, the Premier League side failed to finalize a deal for the prolific forward.

Chelsea made efforts to sign Osimhen on transfer deadline day, but negotiations fell through, leading to Osimhen joining Turkish Super Lig champions, Galatasaray, on a season-long loan deal instead.

Johnson believes the West London club missed a crucial opportunity to strengthen their young squad with a proven goalscorer like Osimhen. “The obvious one would be Victor Osimhen. He was the big name they wanted and didn’t get,” Johnson said in an interview with Betfred.
