The Provost of Imo College of Health and Management Sciences, Pharm. Obiasogu, has refuted claims that students were asked to pay ₦40,000 for their matriculation ceremony. Addressing the controversy, Obiasogu stated that no such directive was issued by the college, calling the rumors baseless and misleading.

In an official statement made available to the press, the Provost clarified that the college is committed to transparency and affordability, ensuring that students are not burdened with unnecessary fees. “We did not ask any student to pay ₦40,000 for the matriculation ceremony. This is false information, and we are determined to address it,” Obiasogu said.

The allegation, which surfaced earlier in the week, created a stir among students and parents, with many expressing concerns about the financial demands. However, the Provost reassured the public that the college’s administration remains focused on providing quality education without imposing unwarranted costs on students.

Obiasogu emphasized that the college will continue to operate within its established policies and encouraged students to verify any fee-related information directly with the institution. “Our doors are always open for any clarifications. We urge students not to be misled by false claims,” he added.

As the college prepares for its upcoming matriculation ceremony, students and stakeholders are advised to disregard the misinformation and trust in the leadership of the institution.
