The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State has issued a strong condemnation of the recent violent attacks across the state, including the assault on the Isiala Mbano LGA council headquarters, where security personnel were killed. The PDP also decried the destruction of the Obowo LGA Divisional Police Headquarters and the brutal murder of a policeman near NEPA junction in Umulogho community.
In a statement by the PDP State Publicity Secretary, Lancelot Obiaku, the party expressed outrage at the continuing loss of lives and damage to public facilities, calling the violence unjustifiable and an affront to the state’s values. “We commiserate with the victims’ families and the people of Imo who have been plunged into sorrow by these heartless acts,” Obiaku said.
The PDP further criticized Governor Hope Uzodinma and his APC-led administration for their failure to take proactive steps in addressing the growing insecurity. The party accused the governor of being indifferent to the violence, which has led to a normalization of bloodshed and terror in the state. According to Obiaku, the government’s focus on party politics, including secret primary elections, while the state faces crisis, reflects a disturbing disconnect from the suffering of its citizens.
