The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has revealed plans to secure a dedicated tank farm to streamline the distribution of Dangote Refinery’s petrol. This move, they say, will make fuel distribution easier and eventually drive down prices.

According to IPMAN’s national welfare officer, John Kekeocha, the association, under the leadership of Alhaji Shettima Magandi, is in advanced discussions with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) to implement this strategy. The proposed plan will ensure that IPMAN, which has the most stores nationwide, can effectively distribute the product across Nigeria.

Kekeocha expressed optimism about the future, stating that while Dangote Refinery has just started production, the cost of production will reduce over time, leading to a decrease in fuel prices. He stressed that Nigerians must understand that the deregulation of the downstream sector has made it a competitive market, and prices will gradually stabilize.

He added that Dangote Refinery, a private company, must operate profitably, but over time, the benefits will trickle down to Nigerians as fuel prices become more affordable.
