Nollywood has been hit with another tragic loss as popular actor, Big Larry, was confirmed dead on Friday. The cause of his death remains unknown at this time. The news was announced by well-known movie producer Stanley Ontop, who shared the sad update on his official Instagram page.

Stanley posted a picture of the late actor, expressing his grief with the caption, “Nollywood actor Big Larry has just passed away. What caused his demise is yet to be known. May your soul rest in peace, Big Larry. Nollywood, Asaba mourns.” His passing has left many in the Nigerian film industry and fans heartbroken as condolences pour in.

This loss adds to the list of Nollywood practitioners who have passed away since January 2024. Notable names such as Mr. Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor, Sisi Quadri, Ganiyu ‘Ogunjimi’ Oyeyemi, and Junior Pope have all been mourned by the industry. Their deaths have raised concerns about the increasing number of untimely losses within Nollywood.

In response to these unfortunate events, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) announced a four-day fasting and prayer session in May 2024. The prayer session, led by Pastor Jerry Eze of Streams of Joy International, was aimed at seeking divine intervention against untimely deaths in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

The passing of Big Larry has cast another shadow over Nollywood, and his colleagues and fans alike are left mourning yet another star gone too soon.
