The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has called on residents of Abuja to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities as preparations for the 2024 Independence Day celebration continue. The police made this appeal in a statement released on Monday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh.

Adeh encouraged residents to take advantage of the command’s emergency lines — 08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, and 07057337653 — to swiftly report any unusual activities within their surroundings.

The FCT Police Command has strategically deployed personnel and security equipment throughout the capital to ensure a smooth and safe celebration. The deployment includes anti-riot units, visibility policing, and Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) personnel.

In addition, Adeh confirmed that traffic diversions will be in place in areas likely to witness large gatherings, such as the Central Area and Eagle Square, as part of efforts to ensure a hitch-free Independence Day celebration.

With heightened security measures in place, the FCT Police are urging all residents to stay alert, cooperate with security personnel, and actively report any suspicious movements or activities.
