Remo Stars head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has expressed his pride and gratitude for being selected to join the Super Eagles’ technical crew as an assistant coach. Ogunmodede, alongside Rangers’ Fidelis Ilechukwu, was brought in to assist caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen for Nigeria’s crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
The Super Eagles had a strong start, defeating the Cheetahs of Benin 3-0, before settling for a goalless draw in their second fixture against the Amavubi of Rwanda. As the team prepares for their next challenge against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya, Ogunmodede encouraged fans to maintain their faith in the team’s potential for success.
“I am deeply honored to have answered the call to serve our beloved country,” Ogunmodede wrote on X. “Let’s remain positive and united in our pursuit of success. Together, we can be better.”
Aside from his national duties, Ogunmodede will be back on the sidelines for Remo Stars as they gear up to face Sunshine Stars in a South West derby on Sunday. His dual responsibilities with both the national team and his club showcase the trust placed in his abilities as a tactician.
Ogunmodede’s appointment has been widely praised by football fans and analysts, who view his involvement in the Super Eagles as a testament to the growing recognition of local coaching talents in Nigerian football.
