Nigerian music sensation Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has revealed that his love for music was ignited in the church, where he first discovered his talent. Speaking on The Breakfast Club on Saturday, the “Calm Down” hitmaker reflected on his musical journey, sharing how the church played a pivotal role in shaping his early career.

“It started from the church; they really made me believe I was doing something good,” Rema explained. “I used to draw, but music was what gave me more vision. The church embraced it, so I just kept going with it.”

At just 24, Rema’s meteoric rise to fame has been fueled by his family’s support. He recalled how his brother bought him his first headphones and introduced him to hip-hop, while his mother’s love for gospel music also played a major role in his upbringing. “My dad would play music in the car on our way to school, so music was always around me,” he added.
