Africa’s trade relationship with China has reached an impressive $280 billion, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced during the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit in Beijing. Tinubu praised the economic partnership between the two regions, describing it as a model for sustainable development and mutual prosperity amid global challenges.

Highlighting China’s Belt and Road Initiative as aligned with Africa’s infrastructure ambitions under the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), Tinubu emphasized that the partnership is rooted in trust, mutual respect, and shared goals. He further urged for continued cooperation through peaceful dialogue, transparent business practices, and diplomatic conflict resolution to strengthen the bond.
