A 37-year-old woman, Fatima Abubakar, has been arrested by the police in Adamawa State for allegedly torturing her two young stepchildren—a two-year-old girl and a young boy. Fatima, who hails from the Sanda community in Yola South Local Government Area, reportedly subjected the children to severe physical abuse over minor offenses, including urinating and defecating in the house.

The children, who are under her care as the stepmother, were repeatedly beaten, with neighbors recounting instances of her denying them food. Fatima, who has no children of her own, has confessed to the police about her actions, claiming frustration as her reason for assaulting the children.

The case was brought to light after concerned neighbors reported the abuse to local authorities. The neighbors, fed up with Fatima’s constant maltreatment of the children, revealed that she had even warned them to stay out of her affairs. Alarmed by the ongoing abuse, they decided to act in the children’s defense.
