A 49-year-old man, Vem Miller from Las Vegas, was arrested by Riverside County deputies near a Donald Trump rally in Coachella, California, on October 13, 2024. Miller was found in possession of a shotgun and a loaded handgun while attempting to enter the rally in a black SUV, which was also carrying multiple passports and IDs under different names. He was booked on charges of possessing a loaded firearm and high-capacity magazine before being released on bail, with a court hearing scheduled for January 2, 2025.
The Secret Service confirmed that neither Trump nor rally attendees were in danger, despite the incident taking place just after two assassination attempts on the former president in recent months. Sheriff Chad Bianco, a Trump supporter who addressed the rally, emphasized that law enforcement possibly prevented another attempt on Trump’s life.
Miller’s arrest follows heightened political tensions and security concerns as Trump continues his presidential campaign, holding rallies even in traditionally Democratic strongholds like California.
