Controversial Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has made headlines again after an audio leak allegedly revealed that he paid N5 million upfront to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) to secure a pardon from the Federal Government over money laundering charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The audio, leaked by social media activist Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), was reportedly recorded on May 16, 2024. In the recording, Bobrisky can be heard discussing efforts to obtain an early release from his legal troubles. According to Bobrisky, the SAN had initially demanded N10 million for the legal maneuver, but due to his frozen bank accounts, he could only manage to send half of the requested amount with the help of a “godfather.”
“I’m supposed to finish my sentence by July, but if we get the amnesty, I could leave by the first week of next month,” Bobrisky allegedly said in the audio. “The SAN asked for N10 million, which I could have transferred, but my account is frozen. My godfather gave me N5 million, and we sent it to the SAN two weeks ago. He has already submitted the pardon request.”
This revelation comes amid ongoing speculation about Bobrisky’s legal battles and attempts to secure amnesty. The cross-dresser has been embroiled in financial crimes cases with the EFCC, which resulted in his accounts being frozen.
Last week, notable human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) publicly denied having any professional or personal relationship with Bobrisky. Falana stated that he had never represented Bobrisky and that the cross-dresser had only spoken with his son, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, a Nigerian musician and activist.
The audio leak has intensified public discussion around Bobrisky’s legal woes and his efforts to navigate them through high-profile legal channels.
