A High Court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Maitama, has issued a public summons to the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, over a fresh 16-count charge involving an alleged N110.4 billion fraud.

The court, presided by Justice Maryanne Anenih, ordered the former governor to appear on October 24 for his arraignment, alongside two other defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu. This comes after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) claimed it had been unable to serve Bello with the charges filed on September 24.

Justice Anenih, acting on the EFCC’s application, directed that the summons be published in a widely circulated newspaper and pasted at Bello’s last known address, as well as in conspicuous places around the court premises.

The case involves charges of criminal breach of trust, with the EFCC accusing Bello and the other defendants of diverting over N110 billion. Bello’s absence on Thursday led to the adjournment of the arraignment, which is now rescheduled for later in October.
