An explosion has rocked the Rivers State secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Port Harcourt, just hours before the scheduled local government elections. The blast, suspected to be caused by dynamites, occurred early on Saturday morning, damaging the main gate, the security house, and parts of a nearby building.

Chief Tony Okocha, the caretaker committee chairman of the APC in Rivers, confirmed the incident and accused supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of orchestrating the attack. Okocha revealed that the alleged arsonists attempted to set the building ablaze, but quick intervention by security personnel foiled further damage.
