The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has brought to court one Blessing Amaka David-Agwa, a fake fertility nurse accused of defrauding unsuspecting individuals in Enugu of N28,278,600. The Enugu Zonal Directorate of the EFCC arraigned her before Justice Mohammed Garba Umar of the Federal High Court, Enugu, on 45 charges ranging from fraudulent impersonation, forgery, and obtaining by false pretenses.

According to court documents, David-Agwa posed as a licensed fertility nurse, deceiving clients and misappropriating significant sums under false pretenses. She pleaded not guilty to all the charges read to her during the court hearing. Following her plea, EFCC counsel Blessing N. Obasi requested that the court set a trial date and have the defendant remanded at the Enugu State Correctional Facility.

In response, the defense attorney, G.C. Madubuegwu, presented a motion for bail, arguing that the defendant should be granted bail on liberal terms based on the Administration of Criminal Justice Act. However, the EFCC’s legal team strongly opposed the bail application, stressing the severity of the allegations and the psychological trauma inflicted on the victims.
