First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and the House of Representatives have extended a combined N140 million in relief to support victims of the recent tanker explosion in Majiya village, Jigawa State, where over 170 lives were tragically lost. Senator Tinubu donated N40 million along with food supplies, while the House of Representatives contributed an additional N100 million to aid the affected families and assist in medical care for those injured.

A delegation led by Hajia Fatima Tajudeen Abbas, the wife of the House Speaker, presented the First Lady’s donation to Jigawa State’s First Lady, Hadiza Umar Namadi, at the Government House in Dutse. Senator Tinubu expressed her deep concern for the victims and pledged continued support and prayers for the affected community. Governor Umar Namadi received the donation on behalf of the state, assuring the public that the funds would be used effectively to aid the victims.

Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, delivered the House’s contribution, conveying condolences to the bereaved families and pledging support to prevent future tragedies. “The House is with you during this time of sorrow,” Abbas stated, adding that the chamber is committed to exploring solutions to enhance safety and reduce risks of similar incidents across Nigeria.

In addition to financial assistance, the House aims to address broader regional issues impacting safety and well-being. The Speaker emphasized the importance of strengthening preventive measures for incidents like the tanker explosion, stressing that legislative support would be directed toward fostering resilience and safer communities.

The House delegation, which included key lawmakers such as Deputy House Leader Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims, Northern Caucus Leader Alhassan Ado Doguwa, and Appropriations Committee Chair Abubakar Kabir Bichi, extended their condolences and promised to continue supporting Jigawa State in overcoming this tragedy.
