Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has appointed his daughter, Mrs. Helen Eno Obareki, as Acting First Lady following the passing of his wife, Pastor Patience Umo Eno. The move has received strong backing from Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who commended the governor for continuing his late wife’s legacy through their daughter.
During a condolence visit in Uyo, Senator Tinubu praised Helen’s appointment, calling it a thoughtful decision that mirrors practices in the United States, ensuring that Pastor Patience’s pet project, the Golden Initiative For All (GIFA), continues to thrive. Accompanied by Hajia Nana Shettima, wives of state governors, and other dignitaries, Tinubu assured the Eno family of her continued support.
Governor Eno, reflecting on his deep bond with his late wife, spoke of the enduring impact she had on his life and their family. He introduced Helen as the one to carry forward her mother’s work, emphasizing his confidence in her ability to manage the Office of the First Lady and continue the projects initiated by Pastor Patience.
Senator Tinubu offered words of encouragement to Helen, expressing her belief in her ability to exceed her mother’s legacy. Governor Eno also dismissed rumors of taking a second wife, stating that the legacy left by his late wife was irreplaceable.
