The Imo State Police Command has implemented extensive security measures to ensure order and safety during the burial of the respected Igbo leader and philanthropist, Chief Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Iwuanyanwu, set for Friday, November 1, 2024, at his hometown in Attah, Ikeduru Local Government Area. The state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, coordinated with heads of other security agencies and key officials to finalize a multi-layered security strategy ahead of the anticipated high-profile event.

According to an official statement released in Owerri, the security preparations involve reinforced patrols at all entry and exit points into Imo State, joint security forces stationed around key venues, and stringent crowd-control protocols. Special measures have been set to manage the flow of attendees, including the deployment of road safety and police traffic wardens, ensuring smooth traffic and securing surrounding areas.

Highlighting the cultural significance of the occasion, the police command has allowed the participation of registered masquerade groups; however, all groups intending to perform must officially register with the Department of State Services (DSS). Unregistered masquerades are prohibited from accessing the event grounds, underscoring the command’s commitment to a disciplined and safe celebration.
