Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has raised concerns over the escalating political feud between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, calling for President Bola Tinubu’s immediate intervention.

In a statement released by her Chief Press Secretary, Arogbonlo Israel, on Tuesday, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan urged President Tinubu to step in before the crisis deteriorates further, emphasizing that the ongoing conflict is not in the best interest of the people of Rivers State.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan noted that the crisis, marked by violence, intimidation, and alleged electoral malpractices, is threatening the peace and stability of the region, as well as the country at large. She urged the President to ensure that the FCT Minister focuses on his duties and allows Governor Fubara, who was democratically elected, to govern according to the Constitution.

“The situation in Rivers demands urgent attention, and I implore Mr. President to take decisive action to prevent further escalation,” Akpoti-Uduaghan stated. She further warned that if left unchecked, the crisis could undermine Nigeria’s democratic progress and threaten national security.
