Popular social media influencer Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has formally apologized to renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, following allegations that linked Falana to a bribery scandal involving crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.

VeryDarkMan, appearing before the House of Representatives Joint Committee on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions on Monday, expressed regret for the insinuations made in connection to the bribery allegations. He clarified that he never believed Falana was involved in the accusations and was distressed that the lawyer’s name had been dragged into the controversy.

“Apparently now, some people are taking advantage of what is going on to target Femi Falana,” VeryDarkMan said during his appearance. “I apologize. It’s so sad that his name was included in that audio. I couldn’t believe it myself, and I refuse to believe that he is a party to something like that.”

The apology follows weeks of public scrutiny after an audio recording surfaced where Bobrisky allegedly mentioned paying bribes to drop money laundering charges. The recording also mentioned Falana’s name, which stirred considerable public outrage. However, Falana strongly denied the claims, demanding a retraction from those involved.

VeryDarkMan’s apology comes as an effort to clear Falana’s name and defuse the tension surrounding the matter, although legal actions may still follow depending on further developments.
