Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Ojukwu, has pledged unwavering efforts to ensure President Bola Tinubu releases Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Speaking at the 13th memorial anniversary of her husband, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, in Owerri, Mrs. Ojukwu said the release of Kanu is crucial for identifying genuine agitators and exposing criminals exploiting his detention to wreak havoc in the South-East.
“President Tinubu understands the significance of Kanu’s release,” she said. “It will expose those masquerading as freedom fighters and restore peace in the region.”
Mrs. Ojukwu criticized the violence and insecurity plaguing the South-East, lamenting its stark contrast to the ideals her late husband fought for. She also condemned violent sit-at-home orders, calling them an affront to Igbo values of enterprise and community.
