Skit maker Chukwuemeka Amuzie, popularly known as Brain Jotter, emerged as the Overall Best Social Media Content Creator at the prestigious 2024 Social Media Awards (SMA). Renowned for his creative spins on cultural moments, Brain Jotter’s viral adaptation of Mike Ejeagha’s 1983 classic, Gwo gwo gwo ngwo, earned him widespread acclaim.

The ceremony also celebrated other digital trailblazers, with comedian Mark Angel clinching Best Facebook Content Creator and former BBNaija star Tacha Akide honored as Social Media Influencer of the Year. Palmpay was recognized for its innovation in the digital financial space, taking home the Best Use of Social Media on a Financial Technology Platform award.

Making an Impact Beyond Digital Spaces
Convener Emmanuel Nwafor spotlighted SMA’s broadened scope this year, featuring new categories and non-votable awards to honor influencers driving philanthropy and societal change. The event also included significant charity initiatives, from covering hospital bills to offering scholarships and WAEC fee support for underprivileged students.

“We’re not just celebrating achievements in the digital space; we’re using our platform to make a tangible difference,” said Nwafor.

Co-convener Maxwell Nzekwe emphasized the event’s inclusivity and recognition of diverse talents. He praised the non-votable awards as a means to spotlight journalists, influencers, and other individuals leveraging social media for the greater good.
