Edo Queens head coach Moses Aduku remains optimistic despite his team’s disappointing fourth-place finish at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League. The Nigerian champions, making their debut in the competition, fell short in the third-place match, losing 4-3 on penalties to Egypt’s FC Masar on Friday night.

Aduku acknowledged the team’s shortcomings but highlighted the valuable lessons learned during the tournament. “We have learnt our lessons. We started very well but went down without scoring goals at the critical stage of the tournament,” he told the club’s media team.

Reflecting on their debut campaign, Aduku emphasized the importance of addressing their offensive struggles. “We are going back to the drawing board to work on our deficiencies. I am not happy that we were not scoring. We learnt a lot, and next time, I am sure we will do better,” he said.

Despite the setback, Aduku expressed confidence in the team’s ability to improve, noting that their performance was not overshadowed by the competition’s quality. “This is our first time. The teams and tournament were not too much for us, just that our plans did not work. Next time we are going to be better.”

Edo Queens’ maiden appearance at the CAF Women’s Champions League has provided a platform for growth, and fans will be eager to see how the team builds on this experience in future competitions.
