The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed allegations that Governor Hope Uzodinma is financially starving the party, describing the claims as baseless fabrications by detractors envious of the party’s success in recent local government elections.
In a statement issued by Cajetan Duke, the party’s Publicity Secretary, the APC leadership emphasized that the party remains vibrant, functional, and financially transparent. Duke noted that allegations of neglect and internal discord were spread by individuals aiming to discredit the party and undermine its achievements.
“The attention of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Imo State chapter has been drawn to an article circulating on social media with the title, ‘Imo APC is in Distress; State Exco Members Cry Out for Help, Accuse Governor of Total Neglect,’” Duke stated. He dismissed the article as a “product of mischief and wickedness.”
Addressing the claims of financial starvation, Duke affirmed that Governor Uzodinma remains committed to his constitutional mandate and has not interfered with the party’s financial autonomy. He explained that the APC operates within the framework of its 2022 Constitution, which outlines legitimate sources of funding, including membership dues, levies, donations, and fundraising efforts.
“The Governor or state government is not one of the sources of funding for our party,” Duke reiterated. He highlighted the recently concluded local government elections as evidence of the party’s strength and organizational efficiency, adding that APC’s financial records remain clean and updated.
Duke appealed to party members and supporters to disregard the allegations, urging them to focus on the party’s continued progress and success in Imo State.
