On November 20, 2024, operatives from the Imo State Police Command’s Quick Intervention Unit apprehended a 36-year-old woman in Amajeke, Owerri, on charges of child trafficking. The operation led to the rescue of two children, reportedly abducted from Anambra State, who have since been reunited with their families.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Henry Okoye, the suspect confessed to collaborating with a syndicate based in Onitsha, to whom she sold the abducted children. She admitted to targeting children from unsuspecting parents in both Anambra and Imo States.

ASP Okoye emphasized the command’s commitment to eradicating human trafficking and related crimes, urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to authorities.
