The body of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, revered elder statesman and President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has arrived in Imo State, marking the start of his final journey home. The respected industrialist, philanthropist, and political figure, who passed away on July 25, 2024, at 81, will be laid to rest on Friday, November 1, in his hometown of Atta, Ikeduru Local Government Area.

Iwuanyanwu’s remains arrived at Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport on October 30, where Imo State Deputy Governor Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, along with a high-profile delegation, was present to honor his memory. The delegation included Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Chief Cosmos Iwu, Chief of Staff Sir Nnamdi Anyaehie, commissioners, federal lawmakers, traditional rulers, and prominent business leaders who gathered to pay their respects to the influential Igbo leader.

From the airport, Iwuanyanwu’s body was taken to the Glass House in Orji, where it was received by government staff before its transfer to Government House, Owerri. On Friday, his remains will make their final journey to Atta, where the state will bid farewell to a man who left an indelible mark on both the Igbo community and the nation.
