The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has confiscated counterfeit wines valued at over N41.2 million in Nasarawa State. The agency announced the seizure following extensive raids on wine shops across several key areas, including Mararaba Market, New Nyanya, and Masaka.

The raid, part of a broader crackdown on counterfeit and adulterated alcohol, uncovered a significant quantity of fake wines and spirits that could pose serious health risks to consumers. NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement team has launched an inquiry into the importers and manufacturers responsible for distributing these harmful products, with plans to hold them accountable.

NAFDAC urged consumers to be cautious and report any suspicious products to their nearest NAFDAC office, emphasizing the role of public awareness in preventing the circulation of counterfeit goods. “NAFDAC is committed to ensuring that consumers have access to safe and authentic products,” the agency stated on its social media page. The public is also reminded to look for NAFDAC’s approval codes and labels when purchasing alcohol or any regulated items to ensure authenticity.
