Social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has accused Ubi Franklin, manager to Chioma Rowland, wife of music star Davido, of scamming a businessman out of ₦10 million. The allegation has reignited conversations about accountability within the entertainment industry.
VDM, in a video shared on his Instagram page on Sunday, November 17, played audio recordings of Franklin allegedly failing to honor a business agreement with the unnamed man. According to VDM, the incident dates back to June 2024, when Franklin reportedly used Chioma’s name to secure the funds.
The critic expressed frustration over what he described as a recurring pattern, claiming he had previously alerted Davido to similar allegations against Franklin.
“@Davido, I cannot understand how Ubi Franklin, a manager under 30BG, is out here scamming people. I reported him to you before. Anyways, Ubi Franklin, you have till Tuesday to pay up,” VDM wrote in the post accompanying the video.
Details of the Allegation
VDM alleged that Franklin collected ₦10 million from the businessman under false pretenses, promising a deal connected to Chioma Rowland but failed to deliver. In the audio shared by VDM, the victim recounted multiple attempts to reclaim his money, only to face excuses and delays from Franklin.
The critic gave Franklin a 72-hour ultimatum to refund the money, threatening to escalate the matter publicly if the deadline is not met.
“I have the proof, and I’ve shown the world. Ubi Franklin has until Tuesday to make this right, or he’ll face further exposure,” VDM warned during the video.
Ubi Franklin’s Silence
As of the time of this report, Ubi Franklin has not responded to the allegations. Attempts to reach his representatives for comment were unsuccessful.
The accusation comes amidst growing scrutiny of Franklin’s role as Chioma Rowland’s manager and his association with the 30BG crew. Critics argue that his alleged actions risk tarnishing Davido’s brand, given his close professional ties to the Afrobeats superstar.
A Pattern of Allegations?
VDM’s claim isn’t the first time Ubi Franklin has faced public accusations. The influencer suggested that Franklin has a history of using the names of high-profile celebrities, including Davido and Chioma, for personal gain.
“This isn’t the first time I’ve heard such stories about Ubi Franklin. How long will this continue? Chioma and Davido’s reputations are being dragged into the mud because of one person,” VDM said in his video.
Industry Reactions
The allegations have sparked widespread reactions online, with many fans and critics urging Davido to address the issue publicly. Others called for Franklin to step down from his role if the accusations are proven true.
As the deadline approaches, all eyes remain on Ubi Franklin to provide clarity or face further public backlash.
