Controversial Nigerian singer, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington or Akpi, has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force. The arrest took place in Owerri during one of his shows, marking the second time the singer has been detained in two months.

The latest development was disclosed by his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, on Wednesday via a Facebook post. “Our client Speed Darlington, a.k.a AKPI, has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria,” Adeyanju wrote.

Efforts to obtain a response from the Nigeria Police Force were unsuccessful, as calls to the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, went unanswered.

Earlier Arrest in October
Speed Darlington was previously arrested on October 4 after the release of a controversial video in which he allegedly mocked fellow singer Burna Boy over his association with American rapper Diddy. The rapper has been embroiled in legal controversies involving the FBI.
