Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk has confirmed testing positive for a banned substance but firmly denies any wrongdoing or intentional use of illegal substances.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Ukrainian international expressed shock over the development, maintaining that he has always adhered to football’s regulations.
“I can confirm that I have been notified that a sample I provided to The FA contained a banned substance,” Mudryk stated. “This has come as a complete shock as I have NEVER knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules. I am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened.”
Mudryk emphasized his innocence, stating he remains hopeful of resolving the issue quickly and returning to the pitch soon. Due to the confidentiality of the process, he added that he could not provide further details at this time.
The incident comes as a major setback for Chelsea and the 22-year-old winger, who has been under scrutiny since his high-profile move from Shakhtar Donetsk. Fans and football authorities will await further updates as investigations progress.
