Nigerian music icon, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has attributed his resilience and faith during life’s challenges to a powerful lesson instilled by his father: never to question God. Speaking during a recent podcast interview with Rollingout, Davido reflected on his Christian upbringing and the profound impact his father’s teachings have had on his journey.

The singer, who is a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and attended a Christian college, shared that his father’s unwavering faith served as a guiding principle, especially during his darkest moments.

“My dad is very successful, but he’s also an elder in the church,” Davido explained. “He taught me early that even in the face of adversity, you cannot question God. I didn’t fully understand this until I faced personal loss and challenges.”

The tragic loss of his son, Ifeanyi, in 2022 tested his faith, but Davido revealed that it was during these moments of pain that his father’s words began to resonate deeply. Reflecting on the subsequent blessings in his life, including the birth of twins, the release of his career-defining album Timeless, and his first Grammy nominations, Davido said he now sees the wisdom in his father’s teachings.

“Sometimes, I asked, ‘Why do bad things happen to good people?’ My dad would remind me that God’s plan is always greater than ours. A year later, I had twins, a successful album, and a Grammy nomination. That’s when it all started to make sense.”

Davido emphasized the importance of faith and perseverance, encouraging others to trust in divine timing. “People go through different challenges, but just know that God has your back,” he concluded.
