Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has expressed frustration with Noni Madueke over his training standards, despite the forward scoring in the Blues’ 5-1 victory against Southampton on Wednesday. Maresca, speaking after the match, criticized Madueke’s tendency to relax after hitting good form.
“With Noni, I have a personal relationship, and I know he can do much more,” Maresca said. “When he starts scoring or assisting, he becomes happy and his level drops. The reason he wasn’t in the squad against Aston Villa is that I didn’t like his attitude in training.”
Madueke, who has five goals and two assists in 13 league games this season, was urged by Maresca to remain consistent and ambitious. “He has to train well every day and understand the importance of maintaining his standards,” Maresca added.
Chelsea’s dominant performance against Southampton highlighted their attacking prowess, but Maresca’s comments point to a desire for discipline and consistency within the squad.
